Nutrition for people with spinal cord injuries

Hi there.

My name is Chrissy and I used to be a personal assistant for people with spinal cord injuries before being lucky enough to be chosen to accompany Colin on his once-in-a-lifetime expedition from London to Cape Town. I am currently studying a MSc Public Health Nutrition in London and my former experience has  motivated me to focus my research project on people with SCI.

It is commonly known that nutrition is a very important area for people with SCI due to their altered metabolism and predisposition to a host of secondary conditions like pressure sores, UTI's and obesity. Yet there are currently no 'evidence based' nutritional guidelines available for people with SCI. I hope to base my project on: 'Evaluating the nutritional advice which is given to and available for 18-60 year old adults with SCI in the UK' and this is where I need some help!

I am inviting you to participate in my project if you meet these criteria:
1) Have a chronic spinal cord injury
2) Are a UK resident
3) Had your SCI when you were aged 18-60

You will be asked to list and rate the types of nutritional advice you have received since having an SCI and to consider the type of factors which influence your food choice. It is entirely anonymous, although your collective results will form part of my research project.

Minimal typing is involved and it should take about 5 minutes to complete this survey- many thanks.
